Fiber Optic Technology for Transformer Protection
TECSYSTEM's FO System is a cutting-edge solution designed specifically for the thermal monitoring of MV-MV cast resin and dry-type transformers, with operating voltages up to a maximum of 38kV. The complete system consists of:
- FO 935 control unit (available in the D version with RS485 Modbus RTU digital output and in the ETH version with Ethernet interface);
- CFO 521 concentrator;
- High-sensitivity fiber optic sensors (2.5 m or 5 m length) with a reading range from -35°C to +195°C.
Thanks to the intrinsic properties of fiber optics, the system guarantees total immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI/RFI) and high measurement dynamics. This allows for the timely and highly accurate detection of hot spots within the windings, eliminating any risk of signal disturbance or electrical discharges.
